You are beautiful. Your curves are an asset, not an obstacle. And you deserve a wedding dress that makes you feel as beautiful as you truly are.
The plus-size bohemian wedding dress is not a compromise - it is a celebration of your femininity, your natural elegance, your confidence.
This bride perfectly illustrates how a dress can flatter generous curves. The delicate lace follows the shapes without compressing them, while the airy tulle sleeves add a romantic bohemian touch. Elegance has no size - it has an attitude.
Why is bohemian perfect for plus sizes?
Bohemian style wasn't invented for plus sizes. But it feels like it was.
Cuts that naturally flatter
Bohemian style favors flowing silhouettes, lightweight fabrics, and cuts that follow the body without molding it. Exactly what flatters generous body shapes.
Empire cuts naturally smooth the stomach. A-line styles create a balanced silhouette. Flowing dresses fall elegantly without highlighting curves.
Comfort without compromising on elegance
Bohemian style favors soft natural fabrics: silk chiffon, lightweight tulle, delicate lace, and flowing crepe. These fabrics breathe. They move with you rather than restricting you.
The free spirit that celebrates all silhouettes
Bohemian style is the antithesis of rigid rules. It is a style that celebrates individuality, authenticity, and natural beauty. For women with generous body shapes, it is liberating.
Look at how the empire cut transforms this silhouette. The high waist naturally smooths the stomach, while the sweetheart neckline flatters generous curves. It is exactly the desired effect: elegant, comfortable, beautiful.
Knowing your body shape: the key to success
A-shaped body shape: flattering the upper body
Characteristics: Shoulders narrower than the hips.
What works: V or sweetheart neckline, puff sleeves, A-line skirt, belt under the bust.
H-shaped body shape: creating the illusion of a waist
Characteristics: Straight, aligned silhouette.
What works: Belt at the waist (your best friend!), empire cut, draping, sweetheart neckline.
O-shaped body shape: fluidity and verticality
Characteristics: Harmonious curves all over.
What works: Empire cut (THE miracle cut), plunging V neckline, flowing fabrics, solid colors.
V-shaped body shape: balancing the lower body
Characteristics: Shoulders broader than the hips.
What works: Voluminous skirts, simple necklines, fitted sleeves, details on the skirt.
X-shaped body shape: the luck of being able to wear anything
Characteristics: Defined waist, balanced proportions.
What works: Almost anything! Belts, fitted cuts, all necklines.
This A-line dress shows the perfect balance: fitted bodice with a flattering sweetheart neckline, naturally defined waist, and elegantly flared skirt. The bride exudes calm confidence.
Bohemian cuts that flatter plus sizes
The empire cut: smoothing and flattering
THE miracle cut for O and H body shapes. The waist is located just under the bust. The fabric then falls to the floor without clinging. The stomach is smoothed, the bust is flattered, and you are comfortable.
The A-line/trapeze style: universally flattering
If you are undecided, choose the A-line. The dress is fitted at the top, then gradually flares. This shape creates perfect visual balance.
The flowing dress: elegance without restriction
Ultra-lightweight fabrics that fall gracefully without clinging. Curves are suggested rather than exposed.

Romantic bohemian dress with puff sleeves
Puff sleeves create romantic volume that balances an A-shaped body shape. Delicate lace adds structure without being rigid. This dress is custom-made to fit your unique silhouette.

The plunging V: your best ally
The V creates a vertical line that visually elongates. It slims the neck, flatters the décolletage, and draws the eye toward the face. Flattering for O, H, and V body shapes.
The sweetheart: flattering generous curves
It highlights without overexposing. It creates soft, feminine curves. Perfect for A, X, and O body shapes.
The square neckline: universal and elegant
It opens up the bust without being provocative. It is suitable for religious ceremonies. It works with all body shapes.
The details that make all the difference
The belt: defining your waist
For H or O body shapes, the belt creates the illusion of a defined waist. At the natural waist to define, under the bust to smooth the stomach.
The sleeves: puff, long, 3/4
Puff sleeves: Romantic volume, balancing an A-shaped body shape.
Long lace sleeves: Elegantly cover the arms with sheer fabric.
3/4 sleeves: Cover the upper part of the arms, flattering for almost everyone.

Bohemian bare-shoulders chiffon dress
Ultra-lightweight chiffon creates the characteristic fluidity of bohemian style. The skirt falls gracefully without clinging. Perfect for confident brides who want an airy, free style.

Recommended fabrics (and those to absolutely avoid)
Chiffon, tulle, lace: your allies
Silk chiffon: Ultra-lightweight, incomparable fluidity, THE bohemian fabric.
Lightweight tulle: Airy and romantic, creating volume without adding weight.
Delicate lace: Elegant texture without visual weight.
Flowing crepe: Falls beautifully, does not wrinkle, and is comfortable.
Satin and mikado: fabrics to avoid
Satin: Shiny, reflects light, and highlights EVERY flaw. Avoid it.
Mikado: Rigid, adds volume, and creates a boxy silhouette.
Golden rule: The more fluid and matte the fabric, the more flattering it is.
⚠️ Example of a cut to avoid
The image below shows a dress with too much volume, an ill-fitting cut, and rigid fabric that does not flatter generous curves.
Example of what to avoid: too much volume, an ill-fitting princess cut, and rigid fabric. Excessive volume, layers of rigid tulle, and the absence of a vertical line contribute to weighing down the silhouette. This is why custom-made dresses and personalized advice are essential.
Our plus-size custom bohemian collection
At Atelier Mariage, we do not have a physical store. We do not accept in-person visits to the workshop. All our energy is focused on one thing: creating your perfect dress.
Our custom-made philosophy
When you order, you enter your measurements online. Then our team takes over.
Custom-made at Atelier Mariage does not just mean reproducing a design in your dimensions. It means creating a dress FOR YOU.
If our stylist notices that a modification would improve the result - a belt placed differently, a neckline adjusted, a length changed - we will contact you to discuss it.
The goal: to create YOUR wedding dress, the one that is better suited to YOUR silhouette than any other.

Important: this collection is not a limitation. It is not a restricted selection of "models for curvy women".
It is a source of inspiration. A starting point.
At Atelier Mariage, ALL our designs are available for all body shapes. Do you like a dress that is not in this collection? Perfect. Order it. We will adapt it to your body.
Do you want to mix elements from several dresses? The top of this one, the skirt of that one, the sleeves of a third? That is exactly the kind of customization we love to do.
How to take your measurements correctly?
Measurements are the foundation of everything. Accurate measurements = a perfect dress.
The essential measurements
1. Bust: at the fullest point, wearing a bra
2. Waist: at the natural waist (where you bend)
3. Hips: at the widest point
4. Bust height: from the shoulder to the highest point of the breast
5. Total length: from the shoulder to the floor (with your shoes)
How to take them
Get help. Use a flexible measuring tape. Do not pull too tight. Do not cheat. Take them while wearing underwear.
Crucial tip: If you are between two measurements, take the larger one. We can always make it tighter, never wider.
Frequently asked questions
What size should I order?
You are not ordering a "size". You enter your exact measurements (in cm).
Our dresses are custom-made from your measurements, not from an S/M/L size. That is why they are so comfortable - they are made FOR YOU.
Is the lace-up back enough if I change weight?
The lace-up back offers flexibility for approximately 5 kg.
If you anticipate a weight change, absolutely choose a design with an adjustable lace-up back rather than a zipper closure.
For significant changes (more than 5-7 kg): stabilize your weight 4-5 months before, then order 3 months before the big day.
Important: Our dresses are handcrafted creations made with very tight margins. If you are not certain you can maintain a stable weight for 3 months (variation under 5 kg), or if you insist on a zipper closure, we advise you to wait for that stability before ordering. It is in both our interests.
How far in advance?
Ideally 3-4 months to be at ease. Minimum 10 weeks (with an express delivery surcharge).
Delivery and returns?
Delivery: Lead time 10-12 weeks. Free delivery in mainland France.
Returns: Custom-made dresses cannot be returned (they are created specifically for you). This is why we communicate throughout the process to ensure the dress will be perfect.
Can I modify an existing design?
Absolutely! It is even encouraged. Add sleeves? Change the neckline? Modify the length? Adjust the back? That is exactly the kind of customization we do daily.
Are you ready to find your dress?
Your curves are not an obstacle. They are your asset.
The plus-size bohemian wedding dress is not a compromise - it is a celebration of who you truly are. A beautiful, confident woman who deserves a dress worthy of her beauty.
Because in the end, the most beautiful wedding dress is the one that makes you feel as beautiful as you truly are.
